Christopher Bechtler was a goldsmith/gunsmith in Rutherford Co. N. C. in the 1830s. One signed pistol is known and is the property of the County now, but does anyone out there know of any guns, either pistols or longguns signed by Bechtler? The known piece is signed in script :"C Bechtler Rutherford NC ". There are comtemporary accounts of many guns made by him and his son Augustus who was also a gunsmith. Accounts suggest experimental guns and perhaps repeaters as well. Any info would be appreciated. Wormey
