Title: Philly Horn #4 (later)
Post by: Tim Crosby on March 30, 2015, 03:44:28 PM
This one is about 14 ¼” around the outside curve and 11 ¼” TTT. The base is Poplar, hollowed out about ¾’s its length, the finial is Cherry. The base is held in with 4 nails.
The collar is a press fit, both it and the tip are horn, the horn is threaded ½-13. Color is Oil based Leather Dye.
 Last Philly horn for awhile.

Tim,
I really like the black tip on that horn.  Gives it a very nice appearance.
To me, that is a right side carry horn.
Good job, quite elegant appearing.

 Thanks John.
As to side of carry...(I am not looking to start an argument here this is just the way I see it.) I call this a Left side horn, here is why:

1st Pic, the base tucks in in the back giving your Elbow free movement, the body
wraps/conforms around your side and the Tip rolls in pointing to the Right.

2. Shows it on the Right, the Butt sticking out.

3. You can see where it interferes with the Elbow. You do not get that bump with every
    movement of the Arm.

4. Shows Left carry and Tip turned Right.

Granted with Right carry the Tip turns in and it will wrap around the body but the Elbow interference overrides both for me.
As they say "To each his own" and this is how I read the twist.

And I say tomato and you say to-mah-toe.
It all boils down to who's looking at it.
I think we are both right.  Or is that left?  So confusing. ;D ;D ;D
