That looks like a fun little project. Looks like that could be made out of the scrap piles. It's a pretty well done video.

As a handtool woodworker who makes many of his own tools, what struck me was the amount of time spent with thousands of dollars in machinery to replicate a $20 Kunz palm plane that he already had. That said, I will keep making planes for myself when it makes sense.  :-\

I don't think the guy made the wood plane because he really needed one, just did it for a fun project. Same reason most of us do the hobbies we choose.
