All, Two really great news items,
1) This was my first "Consignment" rifle - I actually made $ on making a rifle - Fun Stuff, still a rookie but making a few dollars to support my training..
2) The image is posted by using a new "Add image to post" link, right below the text box - an item Dennis added to make posting images a simple and fast process - more on that in the "Over the Back Fence" discussion forum...
Jim makes a wonderful kit, in many wood choices, and always spot on - Jim - always most generous and thoughtful..
More to follow...Now the results of using the "Add image to post link"

That is a really nice looking rifle. I have on order the same rifle also in walnut. What did you use to finish the stock? That is the look I'm looking for.
Thanks

Doc - I sanded with 800 grit sandpaper and Minwax Antique Oil to make a slurry to fill the grain, 4 coats, all sanded and wiped down before drying to avoid gloss.... 1 day between coats -

Looks nice in the white - love it, especially with the walnut.

I did engrave the lock plate, the owner wanted his father initials on the plate, so I added thise and a little style engraving to add a little spice - the lock, barrell and hardware were all left in the white on the Walnut, I think the color contrast worked well - Dennis gets the Lion's share of the easy pic application - I just flew wingman...

Nice job making a plain old piece of black walnut look beautiful! Must be the architecture! It always rules!
-
WOW, If I take the scary step to try to build, I hope it comes out as nice as yours. Very Nice.

Thank you Joe - not scary at all - Jim's rifle is the perfect first kit - it almost falls together - and you have a support group here that is in the 1000's so jump in, you have a lot of help if you need it....
-
Beautiful. And looks like very nice grain flow in that stock.

I am noticing that in my short time here. A whole lot of good people giving great advice. As of right now I am on a waiting list at TVM for a build but, following that, I will try to do one on my own.

Joe - call Jim directly - or Katherine - (working with Jim) they are one of the most kind-hearted and knowledgeable people building kits today - they will set you up - if you do call, tell them I said "HI" -

Getting close..

Beautiful job on that rifle. I e-mailed Jim Kibler about those kits and learned the lop is fixed at 14" while my lop is 13". Got to thinking I might do okay with a longer lop considering how I managed to adjust to the longer lop of modern rifles decades back.
Now, I'm a true duffer at such crafts but I don't think I'd have any problem with either stock or metal finishing. You make it sound like a simple kit that's basically built except for the finishing. How wrong am I in this assumption?
-
If I can build it - you can....

It's a bicep mounted rifle instead of a shoulder mounted one. Also, it has a fair amount of drop. You will find when shouldering it that your arm will naturally adapt to it's configuration and it soon becomes habit.

That is a fine looking rifle. You did a great job on the finish.
