Title: Sporran and Waiste Belt
Post by: James Rogers on April 04, 2018, 12:11:08 AM
This is a Sporran and waist belt I just finished. The sporran is entirely of vegetable tanned horsehide less the perimeter trim on the flap.

Very nice. Can we see some more angles please? Maybe a pic with the cover open? How did you soften the horse hide for the bag, it is usually very stiff for a given thickness?

next time show us some pictures as you are cutting it out and making it.

You do great work and I think we can learn a thing or two.

Thanks guys. My Internet is throttled now and it took forever to get these pics on here. More are located on my facebook business page James Rogers Reproductions and Creations . The horsehide for the body is from the shoulders,  2-3 oz and has been rolled for softness.

Very nice work sir!

I am now following you on faceplace too.  Your posts should be a welcome respite from the usual content. Lol

Very nice looking and well crafted!!1 That horse hide is tough stuff, I made a set of archery shooting finger protectors from some thin horse hide. Lasted over forty years, all kinds of nasty weather, and well over a million arrows shot with them, replaced the stitching about four five times.

That is probably my new favorite creation of yours.

James, your skill with leather particularly, is wonderful.  It is always a delight to see what you come up with.  I really like the braided tie strings and the Celtic knots.  The closure it appears to me, would not be easy to get into the purse, but that would suit a Scotsman perfectly!

Thanks all!
Taylor, I totally agree with you on closure. The original has three buttons but I would definitely only use the center one myself ; )

Oh come on...that is just ridiculously cool. 😎
I met Shel Browder this weekend, and this sporran would look super with his 71st Highland outfit.
I am soaking in the concept and details. Impressive!
God Bless and best wishes, Marc
