Title: Bess Butt
Post by: Nate McKenzie on July 25, 2018, 10:48:28 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a butt plate for a Pedersoli Brown Bess but with the longer tang like in the 1st. Model [long land pattern]?

You could try Track.  I wouldn't guarantee the dimensions, but they should be close.

Hi Nate,
The long land pattern 1730 butt plate sold by TOW should work. However, it will be about 1/4-3/8" too long heel to toe.  You can cut it down of course.  Unfortunately, the Pedersoli Bess will never look quite right as a shortened long land pattern because the stock is too straight and the butt too small.  Below is a link to a tutorial I did on another forum showing how I rework Pedersoli Besses to make them more HC.
