I don't know if this has been posted before or not. The front trigger on this rifle is interesting.

The signature area looks like it has a charcoal blue that is pretty scaly.

Thanks for posting that. A beautiful rifle.

Front trigger is odd. Great looking rifle. Fantastic color

Interesting.
I know of an 1820-ish rifle signed WW with that same scaly charcoal blue color on the barrel.

The tip of the rear trigger is odd also. It looks like it is shaped like a thumbnail finial on a buttplate of trigger guard. Nice rifle!

Beautiful carving, architecture and furniture, those triggers are styling. J. Dickert did some fine work.

Are the set triggers unusual for the time frame?

A curled trigger is normally a single, simple trigger. Normally the front trigger on a double set trigger is quite skinny for a sensitive feel, I guess.

:(
It really sucketh the rifle lost so much value over the years. :-[

Onw also has to consider whether the original appraisal was overly optimistic.

Besides this episode of Antique Roadshow, I'm wondering if this rifle has ever been featured in a publication for students of American Longrifles? If so, I'd love to see more of this grand rifle.
