Title: Curly Maple Shooting Box

I had some curly maple pieces lying around, so I asked a friend Larry Heavrin to construct a shooting box.  A Christmas present to myself.  He did a fine job!

If that was at my house, it would be getting repurposed into whatever she felt it served better. But would definitely be on display not for use as a range box.

I gave him some general Guidelines and he took it from there. I just was looking for a box that was somewhat period looking, and had a simple closure.  He ended up hand cutting all the dovetails, and went with the push button lid releases.   Yeah, maybe a little too nice for a range box,  but I don’t shoot enough to Beat it up!

I can’t recall a finer shooting box. Just a beaut! Would be the pride on the line, I wouldn’t be afeared of using it one bit, and wear will only add to its looks. An impressive companion for any gun! Like any handsome firelock, they look better with age. :)

Wowzers!  That is some nice wood and an equally nice box.
