I shoot some smoothbore matches, Woodswalks .
I was wondering if anyone made themselves a shot Box Or "Can"?
We shoot 4 clay birds at the last station and I just need enough #8 shot for that station one Fellow( I havn't seen Him since) had a small Box that is wood about the size of a deck of Cards maybe a little smaller (I Didn't get to Hold IT) but thin about 3/8 thick I Saw him pour from that into his powder measure Twice in his case, and into the Muzzle.
Its not that big of Deal BUTT on the course you must carry a Throwing Knife , A Throwing Hawk . Your Fire Starting Kit , Flint and Steel. along with all the stuff to shoot 15 shots for Patch and Ball. and 4 Birds.
Just looking to Go lite especially in hot weather.

If you need help emptying the bottle of Jack send it to me and I can assist.

The Jack Daniels sounds good but the bottle is glass. I use empty 5 hour energy drink bottles for both shot and round ball, up to .40.

Lovely work as usual o' master leatherworker. Two thumbs up.

This is what I carry. Welted, brain tanned bag with horn spout. The plug is fitted horn with the measures inside. This one is 8.5 inches long, but could be made smaller of course. It's full of #4.

I forgot, it also doubles as a sap.

Some place here on the forum, I saw a guy using an old medicine bottle of some sort for a shot carrier. The bottle looked like something from the mid-1800's.
-
Here's what I prefer. A doubled ended springed shot charger.
3 or 4 of these in the pocket work quite well for a hunt or a walk with minimal shots.

Using a couple sizes of pvc, I made a bunch of small ball and shot carriers. It works out great; I just choose the sizes I'll need for the day. Also mady a shot carrier from a piece of bamboo. Can't fill it anywhere close to full or it'll weigh 10 lbs.

I think I might make a shot pouch like the one James Rogers shown.
ORR I might get crazy and do a tiny box thing that fits in a shirt pocket.

Where can you find these? That looks fantastic, but a google search came up empty for me.
Thanks!

Check out my post of May 17th. You might give it a try.

Then how about a Tic-Tac bottle? Pop the lid open and pour out what you need. You probably get 2 or so ounces in each container. Certainly not HC though.

That is exactly what I use, but I have only one.

Mike Lea used to make the double ended shot/powder carriers, look exactly like the picture. He can be reached at;

How about an antler with a cork to hold it in the shot?
-
Not anywhere near as cool as the original type with the double taper and spring loaded tops, but I make these powder chargers out of brass tubing. They can hold powder or a few round balls as well. The cap is a friction fit.

I actually use a Tic Tac container to carry extra balls for my .32 It holds a bunch of balls and takes up very little space in my bag.
One day I'll get creative and make something a little more period looking. But the Tic Tac container has served me well thus far.

In my opinion there is nothing better for carrying shot than a shot snake, with a brass Irish style head.
Oh, and #8 shot is pretty small for a muzzleloader. I’ve never had much luck using anything smaller than #6 shot in a cylinder bore muzzleloader that was twenty gauge or larger.

Similar to RonT,

In the upper right you can see a divided tin that holds 2 rows of 1oz or 1 1/4oz premade shot loads. Square end placed in muzzle on top of lubed felt wad, twisted end torn/cut off, push a little deeper, place overshot card, and then seat the whole package.
