Title: Barrel Mark
Post by: James Wilson Everett on August 02, 2019, 08:40:32 PM
Guys,

I am re-purposing a beautiful old barrel; 46 inch octagon to round with a wedding ring transition.  The bore was corroded so I have lined the barrel smooth bore, now at 0.56 caliber.  The barrel only has clear flats on the top 5 flats, the section hidden by the wood stock is more rounded, also the wedding ring is, again, only on the exposed part of the barrel.

The barrel is unsigned, but has a barrel maker's stamp on a side flat at the breech.  It looks to me to be "NR" in a rectangular stamp.  If anybody has information on the identity of the barrel maker, or a guess, let me know.

Jim
