Title: Cleaning with tow
Post by: Molly on September 08, 2019, 03:58:38 AM
We got ourselves one of Dan's tow worns in Lexington and some tow arrived today so we had to go shoot a little.  Seems simple enough but we could not get what seemed like a sufficient amount to wind on the worm and fit tight in the barrel.  It seems that it was bulked up on the worm but would push back when inserted into the barrel.  Seemed appropriate.  Shot Dan's 50 cal "Woodsrunner" from the CLA auction several years back!

Anyone want to share some tow tips!

Mornin' Dan:

Might have to go out and dirty-up that barrel again later today.  Great shooting gun.

I do believe we will get it eventually.  The "trick" seems to be getting the correct quantity and keeping it from winding around like a single "belt" as you turn the worm, otherwise it pushes back off the worm as it's inserted into the barrel and it is a very lose fit.  It's a fun new aspect of shooting however.
