Hi all,
I just recently completed a new belt pouch and wanted to give a shout out and a hardy "Thank You" to Gary Elsenbeck for his help and encouragement in making it.
Gary put up with several emails and questions, and also provided a pattern that he drew up. Gary also encouraged me to call if I had any questions.
There are many talented artisans out there (and on this board) and I am thankful for their help and encouragement on my journey.
Thank you again Gary.
Best Regards,
Doug

You did an excellent job Doug and I appreciate the kudos.

Hi,
The measurements are approx. 4.5" high by 6" wide.
I wanted a "small" belt pouch and thought it might be a little too small, however with the gusset, it has just the right amount of room, and also has two inside compartments.
Thank you for the kind words.
Regards,
Doug

Nicely done and your selection of leather is spot on ;). Is it veg tan 3-4 oz and did you dye it :-\
-
Hi,
The pouch is made from some bark tanned deer hide that I tanned, and also some bark tanned horse hide that was tanned by Dunrustic. I did over dye it a bit to take off the "new".
The back of the pouch is lined with block printed linen. I also used beeswax on the inside of the flap.

Doug

Takes some work (something that is left out in many projects and peoples minds) to get it Right and a pretty good learning curve. I like it even better now.

PS: Is that one of Lonnie's knives? TC

Good looking little bag that you made.
-
Thank you for the kind comments.
Yes, the knife is a double bladed folder made by Lonnie (great stuff)
On the leather, it is a lot of work for sure. It sure makes me appreciate all the work the old timers did!

Doug

Hello Hawkeye,
If I remember, I might have used some dye just to "match up" the bark tanned deer and the horse.
I did use saddle soap on it.
Thanks,
Doug

I never fail to marvel how the little things, such as one crafted as well as this, add such a great dimension to the sport.
