my new mountian rifle I got for my birthday the first of September. it is .40 cal Gillespie NC mountain rifle. it has M&G classic flintlock. a Davis #4 trigger set. it is stocked in red maple the builder cut down. it has a .40 cal. rice round bottom 42 in barrel, 3/4 cross the flats. it was patterned off an original Gillespie NC mountain rifle. the builder forged the hardware and made the sights as well. the builder is Kevin Blevins of NC, the gun is prettier than the photos. and it is deadly accurate.(https://i.imgur.com/JMH7jPPl.jpg[img]https://i.imgur.com/EtCv3Agl.jpg[img]https://i.imgur.com/EtCv3Agl.jpg[/img][/img]

WOW, WOW, and WOW!!!!
My friend that is a fabulous firearm. Having a similar one created for me by Jim Kibler don't listen to those who say it is too perfect to take out in the woods. Take it out kill something with it and love it. They never were meant to just hang on a wall like art.

yea man I have took it hunting 3 times, the last time was this morning. our deer season started Aug.15 I plan on killing some deer with it this year. I won't have a gun I can't use in the woods, but I take care of them,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Cool stock. Kevin does some pretty cool work. I have one of his pocket horns that have a cavity in the bottom for round balls.

Such a beautiful rifle and accurate as all get-out. I'm like you in that if I can't take it into the woods, then I don't want it.
-
Bob i never heard of a horn with a cavity for balls, I will have to ask him about that,,,,,,,,,,,,

Beautiful do you have any idea what he stained the stock with?

Wow, I sure wish some of my maples were that loud...that is an incredible piece of lumber! Beautiful rifle, and looks like a shooter, too.

Really nice looking rifle. I too have a horn that holds and dispense balls, up to 50 caliber, and also percussion caps. Carry powder in pre chargers.
