Title: Snake Horn # 2

  This is a rather large horn, 14" around the outside curve and 12 tip to tip but to get the snake to look right it had to be, the pattern for the snake is 43" long. The Butt is Walnut painted Black and sanded back a bit, it is held in place by 8 Iron pins. The tip is horn and is pinned on with 3 Iron pins. An Iron staple in the neck for the strap.

I love it Tim. I like how you can make two horns of the same concept look so different. Wonderful snake and finishes. Two thumbs up buddy. Marc

Nice Job on the horn, but I can't say I am thrilled with the subject.   I really hate snakes, and don't understand the fascination with them.

Tim, that's just awesome.  Is the snake painted, or did you figure out a way to stain just the snake and not the horn body?  I have a couple of very big, very thick horns down in the shop that I've been trying to come up with a use for...

Just a thought- Turn the snake around and make the tip or the stopper into his rattler.

 That's an idea for a future horn. Marc's is suppose to be a Copper Head and the Subject a Black Snake.
 I grew up in Central Virginia we had plenty of snakes, Copper Heads, Cotton Mouths, Hog Nosed, Water snakes, Black snakes, etc... When I was stationed in Southwest Oklahoma I got my first in person meeting with a Rattle Snake, it was also my first time eating snake, tastes like Chicken  ;)

Snakes are easy.  All you have to do is memorize the venomous ones in your state or commonwealth, and leave the rest alone.

Here in my area we have four dangerous ones supposedly - Rattler, Copperhead, Water Moccasin, and Coral.  Realistically we never see Coral snakes.  Likewise, Rattlers generally leave the area when a human is around.  The Copperhead and Cottonmouth are a pain in the neck (or ankle) as they stand their ground and/or are aggressive. So we really only have to know two. 

Snakes are wonderful at keeping the varmints down. No reason to dislike all snakes.  Now, scorpions......yeck!

We have Rattlesnakes down in the central interior of the province (BC) where it's very hot and dry most of the time.  Never heard of any up this far North - at least not that I know of.  Which is fine by me.

Only snakes I've ever seen up this far are garter snakes - and very few of those.

I am not fond of snakes at all, but I must admit those certainly have lots of appeal.
