Title: Found book - percussion shotgun book giveaway
Post by: Bruce in WV on October 06, 2019, 06:12:44 PM
I found this book in my Dad's stuff and have no use for it. I learn a lot from this web site and would be happy to give back a little.

This is a classic text on repairing and using muzzle loading shotguns. There are lots of modern reproductions on the web of this book that duplicate the information in it, but this is the first edition. Used book sellers are showing $50 plus shipping for this book, but I'll give it to somebody here who hunts with an original percussion shotgun in the field. Just post here that you're a hunter using a percussion BP shotgun and its yours. I'll get your mailing address and send it on its way. Here it is:

The Muzzle Loading Shotgun: Its Care and Use
by Starr, V M

Condition: Very good

Eden,SD: Privately Printed, no date circa 1950. First Edition. Original wraps. Very good. 11pp octavo, A very good copy in red printed wraps.

As I am in need of all the help I can get on this subject (oh I am a BP shotgun shooter) i would love to have it and will give it the care it deserves. When done I will pass it to the next needy person just like you are.

A very good book, and a very nice gesture Bruce.

Mr. Starr really knew his onions.

I knew Starr.  He had a gun shop and a big truck garden in the coteau (hilly pothole country) east of Eden, South Dakota.

Well, the only original I hunt with is only original with me.  But Muskrat, when you are done, would sure appreciate being able to read it before I, too, pass it along.
