Title: Flintlock by Birch
Post by: WESTbury on November 15, 2019, 04:20:27 PM
Does anyone have any info on a lockmaker, or importer of locks, under the name of Birch?

I found BIRCH listed as a "maker of flint and percussion locks" but not any other useful info. Birch could be the maker or a possible imported/seller who stamped their name on the lock.

I've looked at every rifle posted in the Miller Library plus what I could find in a few of the auctions, but no luck. Of course, quite a few of the photos on line are poor quality.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Are you sure that is not "BIRD"?

I'm certain that the fourth letter is a "C". The fifth letter is about 75% obscured by deep patina, it looks as though it is a partial "H".
