Title: Hawk handle finish
Post by: Sparkitoff on February 14, 2020, 06:20:11 PM
I have recently re-worked two hawks intended for throwing at Rendezvous.  One has a Tru-Oil finished handle. The other has a stain/sealant product. Over the course of many throws the ability to control the release begins to vary due to the handles. They are either slick or tacky.  Interestingly, the handles are not consistently slick or tacky, they are either depending on sweat and temperature. So, is there a better finish for these, or is there a common wrap or "checkering" or something to keep the grip friction consistent?  Thanks

Sparkitoff; Sir, I started throwing Hawks in 1975 and still, on a limited club shoot, complete. After all these years I have never finished the handles on any Hawk I have used. I must toot my own horn and say I still do very well. One thing, I'm a side winder. I do not go over the shoulder. This is the only answer I have. Have a good day. AJ.
