Title: 1FG powder
Post by: old george on April 28, 2020, 05:47:41 PM
When using 1FG in place of 2F what would the volume difference be if you are using a hunting load of 2f @ 80grs. I realize there will be  an increase in grunge but will there be a noticeable decrease in velocity esp pushing a roundball?

Are you measuring by weight or volume? If you measure by volume the measure will throw about the same each time with each powder but the 1f charge might be of less weight.

I measure by volume smylee. Which usually means to achieve the same velocity I'll probably need to up the 1fg?

I think your right old George. If you have a reloading scale you could measure the two charges to find out how much they varied and increase your 1f load by that percentage for starters.

You will likely have to increase the weight of the load by 10 to 15gr. to match the velocity of the 2f load.
