Post by: Keith Zimmerman on May 22, 2020, 12:05:43 AM
Folded its 4.5 inches.  Blade is 3.75 inches.  Corkscrew is 1.5 inches.  Scales are bone.

I don't know but I like it.... I'm in folder collecting mode. Super cool. I'm not sure when they started putting corkscrews on knives, but that's where I'd start. French or late 19th or early 20th I would guess....

I took some steel wool and cleaned it up a little bit since I took the pics.  My buddy Stan Hollenbaugh thought maybe last quarter 18th century.  Ive had it for awhile after finding it in a shoebox at a gun show for $5.  Ive been thinking about having it copied.

Could be. Especially if French, or possibly Italian or Spanish.. I think the corkscrew is the kicker. I love it though. Very nice example. Expert will chime in I'm sure..

Look up Laguiole knives. I think that is late 19th century or early 20th century European.  God bless, Marc

Thanks for the info Marc.  I emailed them and sent pics.  Their response was: they didnt know who made it.  But its definitely old.  U can tell by the hand chiseled corkscrew.  And all the metal is carbon.  The scales are bone or ivory.  So they said it a collectable for sure.  They didnt mention anything about the numbers on the blade.  I will reply asking them a few more questions.
