Title: A Beck for a friend.

I just completed this one for a friend.  Styled after the "Washington Beck".  FCI 20 gauge/62 caliber 42" octagon to round barrel with a jug choke in full by Eastern Sky Arms.  Chambers Silar lock. Buttplate from Jenny Goehring, triggerguard from Dave Keck. I made everything else. My first left handed rifle, and first attempt at a wooden patchbox lid.  The finish on the stock and metal is a bit aged.  The owner asked to allow the brass to age on its own, and after two trips to the range, it is coming along nicely.

I would also like to thank PTK1126 of this forum for giving me numerous photos of the original.  I hope I got even a little bit close to it.

You did good.  I'm looking at the little details like the trigger and sight and they are Beck.  Did u make your sideplate?  If so, nice!

Scottmc,  yes I made everything except the buttplate, triggerguard, lock and barrel.  I had an excellent set of photos and measurements to work from.

Thanks to all for you kind comments.  I enjoyed making something different, and left handed is different for me. I’m launching on a Schroyer based rifle next.   It will be primarily one from Shumway’s book with some changes that I had the opportunity to see at the Baltimore show some years ago.

Real nice Beck style smooth/rifle! I think I've built about 6 or 7 Beck rifles and coincidentally the first was a left hander with wood patchbox, but in .32 caliber by special request of customer.

Beautiful rifle. Well made wood-box Becks are some of the most elegant longrifles, IMO.
