Hey All, Can any one point me in the direction of horn styles for New France? I'm working on a Coureur de Bois portrayal. Any thing regarding styles, material, or where to look for more info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Here is one that is attributed to French origins, can't recall exactly where in the US it originated.

Greetings,
"The Voyager's Sketchbook" by James A. Hanson contains some sketches of horns that may be of interest.
Paperback: 48 pages
Publisher: Fur Press; 1st edition (1981)
ASIN: B0006YWKLW
Should be copies, new and used, readily available.
Enjoy,
Kevin

The French leather powderhorn (similar shape and dated 1620-25) shown in "Soldats du Roi - Les Armées de L'Ancien Régime 1610-1789" page 24 is associated with priming a canon, no mention of use in French-Canada.

Belleville,
Thanks for the photos. The second one intrigues me. Just a bit of weirdness, I live in Belleville, Wi.
