Title: Hershel House Knife and Gun
Post by: Daniel Coats on December 25, 2020, 08:39:06 PM
Rifle was made in 1979 using a 7/8 41 inch .50 Green River barrel with slight taper. I owned it for several years and it handled and shot well. This is one I should have kept but you know what they say about hindsight. I still have the knife

Just something about Hershel's work makes you want to pick it up and feel it!

Both lovely pieces and wish I had them!

Here's some history that came with the rifle.

This rifle is quite different from other Hershel work I have seen.  Except for the iron vs brass mounts and the carving, it sure has a Dickert feel to it.  Architecture, the way he modified the lock, the triggers and guard.  Nice looking rifle, and I can imagine it handled well.  Thanks for the pics and history.

Whatever the inspiration Hershel used to make this one, I think it is beautiful.  I like it all.   God Bless,   Marc

I have always enjoyed Hershel's work. Can't agree with your comments more.

This is one of those rifles that whoever was lucky enough to be its next "caretaker" it would be the flagship of whatever size their fleet! The knife rates right along with the rifle.
Love them both!

Looks good with a Greek statue I guess both are classic art forms.
