Here's some pictures of my new to me long rifle I bought from Jack Brooks yesterday. It has a curly ash stock and all of the small parts were made by Marc. The swamped 44" long barrel is 32 caliber and the rifle handles beautifully. Probably the most handsome flint squirrel rifle I've ever had the pleasure of handling personally. I hope you enjoy the pictures taken with my cell phone this morning they're not the best but it will give you an idea of the exceptional quality of this fine rifle.

Beautiful. I have a SMR in 45 from him with a 48in Rayl barrel. Great shooter. Thanks for posting the pics. What are the specs of yours?

That is a beautiful rifle for sure , congratulations .

I remember seeing this trigger guard style somewhere but can't recall for sure. Can someone reply back and refresh my memory please?

Correction on the wood, it's curly walnut not ash.
-
One fine rifle I do say. Like the nose cap, simple trigger guard and trigger. You did good Daniel.

Based on Phillip Cameron who worked in North Carolina, deep river school.

Thanks!
Was custom made some years back on request and the original owner's initial is inlet in cow horn on the cheek piece and the butt plate was his request also and Marc designed it.

Yes very similar. Where is that one from?
-
It is from a class Marc attended that was put on by Ian Pratt and Jim Kibler (I think). I found it on page 7 of Marc’s old ALR posts.
-
I'm not sure that this is the rifle Marc showed me when he was working on it or one very similar. He seen a simple rifle with a trigger guard and single trigger like yours in one of Jerry Nobles books on southern mountain rifles and used it for inspiration.

There was another one he made almost identical but the nose cap was shorter at least from the pictures I've seen.

I believe you'll find pictures of the other Marc Tornichio rifle you talked about on the Riser Blog December 29, 2011 (with a lighter color stock) and again on August 28, 2014 (antiqued with a darker stock)..

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing it - im particularly drawn to the buttplate - is that a wood (sans buttplate) with metal tail coming down from comb or a full metal buttplate with brighter metal inlay? Cant tell. Either way is super design. Is this based on an original or totally the commissioner’s and Marc’s idea?

Marc told me the customer asked for the heel to be protected so he came up with this heart/spade shaped design. I believe it to be one of a kind and agree it's fantastic!

Marc is really good at adding some distinctive flair to a relatively plain rifle.
As for the butt stock inlay, Mike Cox is a master of that treatment. A number of years ago I saw several great rifles by Mike that had intricate inlays in the end grain of the butt stock.
