Title: ID help
Post by: DanO on January 11, 2022, 06:01:16 PM
I am trying to identify the maker and any other information related to an old long gun I have. The lock is ingraved with S. Moore Warranted and the barrel is stamped Riddles Barg. It is apparently a flintlock converted to percussion and is. 36 cal. smooth bore with a very plain stock. I will try to post pics soon. I am new to the forum and I am not the best at meneuvering through the digital system.  Any help would be appreciated.

Could be Madison Riddlebarger. ( Riddleburger,Riddleberger))  Botetourt County Virginia.  Apprenticed to George Grandstaff.   Just a guess. :)

Dano, nice old gun buddy. But it was never a flintlock, it has a back action lock,it’s post flintlock era. That being said it is a nice old survivor.

thanks for your response. I should have known better. I am considering restoring this gun to working order. I mainly needs a new nipple and hammer and pins on the stock.
Thanks again . Dano
