Title: Measures and stuff
Post by: B.Barker on January 13, 2022, 04:30:38 AM
Made a couple more adjustable measures and three antler measures. Started a shot bag and powder horn also since I haven't had time to really work on any rifles.

Really nice work Brian, engraving the round measure has to be a chore. Like to see the horn when you finish it. Are you going to carve it?

Very nice work. I like the detail and "crispness of the decoration on your powder measures- both metal and antler.

Beautiful work as always! Wiggle engraving a convex surface and maintaining straight lines makes my head spin, are both of those measures already spoken for?

You're exceptionally artistic to have done such detail work on those measures.

Tim, no plans on engraving this horn. If I were to do anything it may get a hot brand but that isn't very likely either. I have another horn I doodled on three maybe four years ago now and still haven't put a knife on it yet. Maybe this winter it will get finished up.

One of the adjustable measures may be available. I have to hear back from some folks first.

Love those measures. I would really like to see a little tutorial on your tools and process of carving the antlers.

As nice as the adjustable measures are (very nice!), I really am drawn to the antler measures. I would also a tutorial on your techniques. Are the little cross-hatch lines done with a file or a chisel or a graver?

Thats some nice stuff right there.  Really nice.  Is any of it going up for sale at some point?

I think I did a thread on how I make my antler measures. If you can't find it let me know and I'll try to post anther one. Most of the measures are already sold. I do have the two skinnier ones left. I think one is 50 grains and the other is 40 grains.

Beautiful work, as usual Brian!  I hear you on living the grandpa life…between babysitting the two littlest, and archery practice and tournaments for the two middle girls, grandpa gets limited shop time anymore. But it’s worth it!
