Where can I find small forged buckles for making horn straps. Proably 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch is size. Google is not very helpful when doing a search.
-
Google returns plenty of results for small forged buckles, the trick is to do an "image" search.

Thanks, that worked...

They are not had to make, this is a little skewed thanks to "Potobucket" but you should be able to follow it.

That is a good way to make buckles. I need them already made. I haven't been in my shop now for 10 years due to health issues.
I did find some from the image search that will fit my needs.

Those are some nice looking forged buckles.

John Rader from Morning Sun Forge does indeed make very nice forged buckles. The square ones are not to thin and cheap looking, nor are the too thick and heavy. Just right. I highly recommend him. I have used about 15 of his buckles in the past. Nothing but good.
Be aware that some cleaning is needed. I scrub off the carbon/dirt with alcohol, buff the edges with OOOO steel wool, and then clear coat with flat lacquer to prevent rust and staining. Not a big deal when doing them in batches.
I hope this helps. Here is one I just used......

I have a friend who makes me buckles but hes in the process of moving his shop and setting up a new forge.
I think he needs to install a hood and exhaust fan and will be back in business.

Try out Etsy. More artsy-craftsy stuff there.

Howdy:
Check this guy out. https://www.ebay.com/str/longhuntertradingcompany
I've been buying from him for awhile. His prices are the best I can find short of forging them myself. Good luck. I just checked...he's still selling on eBay. Just go to his store and type buckles in the store search box.

Thanks Brian: I thought I checked his stuff out?? Maybe I got the wrong guy? I think the guy I deal with has a bit better pricing? But either one will work in a pinch.
Thanks.
