Hi,
Does anyone shoot Swiss 2F in anything, I have had limited success with it in a 40 cal I have. Thinking of trying it in a couple of 50’s I have. Thoughts and comments welcome.

Yep, I used Swiss 3f in my 40s for years and ran out one afternoon but had Swiss 2f with me so used that. I kept using it because I had a good supply on hand as I used 2f in my 50s. I also use Swiss 1&1/2 so only have 2f and 1&1/2 on hand now. If I shot sub 40 cal I would probably get back into some 3f.

Back in the late 50's and on into the 70's we had DuPont then GOEX and sometimes Curtis&Harvey and sometimes.Kings even though the mill closed in 1953 there was still quite a bit around.I used 3fg in all calibers of rifled including a W.W.Greener 16 bore SxS rifle and it regulated at 50 yards with 90 grains and a patched ball.75 grains of DuPont and the old Lyman 451112 made the Whitworth happy and 55 grains worked in the Len Meadows flintlock with a .445 patched ball and groundhogs gave testimony to that load.My experience with Swiss is very limited but using 75 grains of it and the same bullet seemed to have a lot more punch and higher velocity but no real good way to know for sure.In 2008 I actually completed 3 rifles,a 58 caliber flintlock that I used 75 grains of GOEX 3fg and a .562 round ball with striped cotton patches.Bill Large would come back from the dead if he ever found out about that undersized ball but it worked.The next was a 40 caliber boys rifle with a .395 ball and the same patch material over 40 grains of GOEX 3fg and then,a 38 caliber bullet gun with a Hoyt barrel and a 330 grain lubricated bullet and 55 grains of GOEX 3fg and all came from the same can.That was my last tests with a muzzle loader and then started into another venue of black powder and shot at Ralph Marcum's Hooten Holler range in McKee Ky.for several years.

Never have used Swiss 2F but really like the 3F in the .32.

My 44" Getz barreled .58 absolutely adores Swiss 2F.
Here's a 5 shot 50yd target off the bench as I was trying to figure out what it liked......needless to say the search ended right there ;D

This was with 3f Swiss before I switched to 2f. Maybe I should switch back but now I have to shoot LEFT eye so results might not be equal.

I only shoot 86 grains of 2F at a time. Not sure why 100 grains got reported.

Hi Everyone,
I am thinking of Swiss 2F for two off hand rifles I have. I shoot 75 grains of 2F Goex in both of them. I was thinking 65 grains of Swiss 2F. 100grains of anything seems like a lot in guns shot in off hand matches. Don’t get me wrong I have guns I shoot up to 140 Grains of 2F in, but with no Goex until next year I am looking at other options for open sight matches and off hand with out buying any more powder right now.

I might be able to shoot a 5-shot, one hole group if the distance is around 8 yards. That's the kind of shooting that humbles friends and bystanders.

I went to the range yesterday and was very please with the results of Swiss 2F. 65 grains, 495 ball, and Teflon patching cut at the muzzle. When I figure out how to post a photo I will.
