Never say never. I swore I would never make another one of these, but a dear friend asked, so here it is. She supplied the grey tweed, and I think it makes a nice pairing with the russet dyed leather. The bag is fully lined and strengthened by suede pigskin. The russet colored leather is all dyed veg tanned cowhide. The rolled top edge is buckskin. There is a reinforcing stiffener inside the top back. The edge welt is scalloped cowhide. Buckles are by Richard Lanni with my antiquing and iron tongues. About 12" tall by 11" wide. Seems like miles of hand saddle stitching with waxed Irish linen. I hope y'all enjoy it. God Bless, Marc

As always Marc, topnotch work! How many NSAIDs did all of that require. Makes my old hands hurt just thinking about it! ;D

Just possibly one of the finest haversacks I have ever seen! Thank you for posting it.

Outstanding. Any pockets inside?

Ditto! I’d use that as an everyday work bag. The leather bottom is perfect for long lasting use. Beautiful.

My thanks to all for the kind words. I hear you J.B. on the stitching. While not as painful and leather carving, there is a lot of stitching to finish off a haversack like this. Mike, yes this bag is a triple-bottomed laminate of cowhide/tweed cloth/pigskin, so it should hold up. Keith, being a haversack style bag, I did not include internal pockets. I'll be delivering it to its owner at CLA, so it can be seen there. Best wishes to all, and God Bless, Marc
