Title: Unusual Powder Flask
Post by: Jerry Girard on August 16, 2022, 07:22:58 PM
Hello All,
I recently found this rectangular small powder flask with scrolling on one side and no other markings. It is 3.5" L X 1.5" W X tapering to 1" W on top X 1" thick. Please comment as to its origin and possible age. Thank you.
Jerry

Jerry— This looks more like a modern made flask, possibly from the 50s or 60s, than one from “back in the day.” Or at least it does to me. My father made one sometime around 1962 or so that is very similar except for being cylindrical.
Yours is still very cool even if it is not an antique. Good find. Use it, I would—provided that it is air tight that is.
Hope this helps. —JB

It’s a nice flask, and has a nice folk art feel.  (Is that a powder gate lever at the top?)
I made a couple simple ones from wood for priming. Light and sturdy.

Hello Bob,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that lever opens & closes the nozzle. I also believe it is most likely contemporary. Very nice wooden ones. Regards,
Jerry
