Title: Update on ignition problems
Post by: adkmountainken on March 21, 2023, 05:51:15 PM
Ok today was the first day I got to go back to the range in attempt to se if ignition problems with my .54 Hawken were solved. First let me thank all the members who gave me suggestions which I did heed! Huge thank you to my buddy Eric who goes by Rawhide on here. It was suggested by a couple members to cone the liner which Eric did for me. Also suggested when priming to prime against the flash hole/liner which I did today normally I had always primed 1/4 pan farthest away from liner. Also suggested I clean between shots which I did today every 2 shots. Rifle performed without a hitch today THANK YOU to all members here who helped! Shot 8 in a row cleaned with a wet patch then 2 dry after 2 shots in a row. Who says ya can’t teach an old dog new tricks!

Nothing more aggravating than a flintlock with faulty ignition, glad you got your problem solved.
