Title: W.M.Large rifle, nomenclature
Post by: Uncle Miltie on March 24, 2023, 01:47:06 AM
Hello, this is the stamp on the barrel of a .50 caliber bench rifle I have.  I was told the rifle was built in the late 1940's but the maker did not sign his work.  Bill Large made the barrel though and marked it accordingly.  I figure the 50 denotes the caliber but does anyone know what the numbers 815 stand for??  Thanks!

It's probably the 815th barrel he made.

Possibly the 815th 50 caliber barrel he made.I never heard Bill mention the numbers of any particular caliber he made but then I had no reason to know or even care.I have no idea how many locks and triggers I made and it's not important to me in any way.Probably more than 10 or 12.
