A friend brought in an 1864 Springfield musket in the "black". The stock feels like and looks like it might have been hanging up in a greasy kitchen for decades. Looking for recommendations to clean off the stock without damaging the original stock finish. Thanks for any help and thanks for this forum which I enjoy regularly!

If the RM 's metal matches the stock do not do anything except wipe the RM with soft dry cloths.
By the way, read rule Number One for posting subjects. :)
