Title: Period Carving & Primary Sources
Post by: bluenoser on March 01, 2010, 08:23:44 AM
I hope this is the correct forum for this thread.  Period carving seems to fit, but primary sources probably doesn't.

Just discovered the University of Wisconsin Digital Collection.  There are a large number of detailed images of carving on documented 18th century furniture at this site.  Although I haven't had a chance to thoroughly check it out, there appears to be a lot more here as well. I'm going back to take a look at their primary sources!

Once you are there, click on "Chipstone and Longridge Collections"

When you are viewing the images, don't make the same mistake I made.  There are four graduated boxes on the left hand side.  Click on the largest box for the highest resolution image.

Enjoy

Thank you so much for posting the link.  I have been looking for something like that for quite a while.  Quite instructive!
