What is the best way to attach a nose cap?

If it is brass I use a couple of copper rivits on the bottom 2 oblique flats. For steel, iron rivits, same location. Horn or bone, hide glue.

For a brass cap, with a rivet. Usually brass, sometimes copper. Generally one, but sometimes two.

counter sink flat head screw from inside the barrel channel, file flush on the outside.
