Where did it come from?
« on: June 10, 2010, 03:45:41 PM »

I picked up this old shotgun at an auction and thought it might makes parts as the stock was in pieces and had a bit of dry rot.  I then looked it over and decided I might prefer to fix it up more as a wall hanger.  While I could make it shootable as the breechplug is sound, the threads for the nipple are sound and the barrel slightly pitted, I decided I would rather not.
I ahve no idea what it is or where it came from.
The trigger guard is wooden
Oct to round barrel about 33 inches long
16 bore more or less.
Walnut stock
While I am sure it is not a real treasure I would like some idea of what it is. thank you

Looks like it came straight from $#*!..... ;D The wood guard looks horn to me, so I'd place it somewhere in one of the Germanic areas.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Its wood.  It cracked a little so I could see its wood.
