where to locate a barrel made for a .454 ball
« on: February 09, 2011, 05:22:42 PM »
Hello I'm new here and am interested in building an early lancaster style rifle. however, I would like to have it chamber the same ball as my 1860 army. I have not been able to locate a barrel in this range. Any help would be apreciated.

The 1860 uses a .454 round ball. I would like to use this same ball patched in the rifle.

I shoot a .454 w/ .015 patch and spit (recently .017/018 patch and same fancy lube) in my ol Getz for many thousands of rounds.  Started with a .451 right outta the gate in 89!  And she shoots when I do my part.   ;D

Some folks will correct me if I'm on the wrong page but I do seem to recall that the ol Douglas double X barrel was a tad larger in the .45 than some.

Could start with a .45 Getz and if toooo tight have her freshed out a bit ???
