Help with H. Albright

      First of all, what a wonderful web site. I found it 5 days ago and been on it every day since. A great place for info. Hope you all can help me.     Back in 1977 I bought Kindig's Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle and have always admired Henry Albright's gun no.25 pg 102 (walnut stock). Does anybody know of another book that has this gun in it? How can I get the exact measurements? (lop, drop, length  of wrist from breach to comb an so on).    The barrel is octagon to round. How long is the octagon section? And would any barrel maker make a copy of it? I have made guns in the style of a maker or a school but never an exact copy, this would be my first.    I'am very particular and if the profile isn't just right I would not be happy    Any help would be very appreciated.      Thanks   Alan Merrill

Welcome to ALR. Glad you found us!

I'm sure several of the barrel makers who frequent ALR would be able and willing to make you a custom barrel.  Getz barrels are always in great demand and I do not know how long the wait is for one of their custom barrels.  Ed Rayl has a reputation for bing pretty responsive in making a custom barrel.  Riley Smith of Longhammock barrels makes some of the barrels Jim Chambers uses and makes a nice barrel.

Perhaps one of the moderators on the Museum part of this site can assist with access to the data on the original rifle.
