Single Banded Horn 1 Jul 10

 This is a rather large horn measuring about 15" around the curve, the hollowed out Walnut base is held in with 8 wooden pegs. The band was boiled and pressed on, then attached with two steel pins. The tip is horn and is pinned with two pins.

Great looking horn, but I was wondering whether horns like this were popular in 1710, LOL.

Question, do you guys pick horns that run skinny at the ends for the applied tip horns, or for banded horns in general?  I see quite a few that are quite slim and graceful being made.

 As for the horns, I try and pick slender horns but even then I take a lot out of them.

Tim,

Your horns have the most amazing color for someone who is color blind.   Love the rich colors.
