Western type pouch set

Sorry to once again be shameless, but I wanted to mention that I had a western type pouch set posted on The Contemporary Makers Blog
over the holiday..."The Missouri". Here's a link to the images...

Once again, that is an absolutely beautiful set. While I do not know very much about the western trade, I can imagine that this set is very appropriately done.

The powder measure is a treasure. The eastern (brown) bison horn is also great, and the pouch is just one of those great, simple classic styles. Wonderful basic knife too.

What an awesome set!

Tim, Your sets are a treasure. Sure hope someone is collecting them for a museum somewhere!!!

Thanks for all the good words guys...it does inspire a fellow to keep on going...
the sets have been sent out and are pretty scattered all over the map so far...actually from coast to coast east to west...and from Alaska to Florida north to south...they sure are alot of fun to research and then create...Im not rushing the series to a close as I have quite a few more favorite rivers, eras and regions I want to cover yet, but I already have some pretty special plans for the final set...

Thanks Roaring Bull.....Tim, I hadnt considered those waters, but theres no reason why they shouldnt be included...Im in the middle of the "Fox" and the "Red River" at the moment....the Fox being a fancy trade silver and bead decorated dyed wool bandolier type bag...and the "Red" a painted Metis style creation...

Tim, you read my mind...
The Fox is a bandolier bag patterned very much like the Cherokee  pouches...I really do like that style for sure...mine has a hand  dyed wool
shell...early floral print cotton liner...edged in black silk trim..with hand made black wool yarn tassels under large glass trade beads along the bottom...wide swallow tailed bandolier strap in matching dyed wool, backed with matching cotton print, also bound in black silk...decorated every 3 inches or so with various trade silver brooches in a repeating pattern along the whole strap...big double twisty horn hung seperately...
more fancy than usual, but lots of the mid to late period eastern Native bandolier bags were quite fancy...I need to mount the tassels and do some beading on the strap and it will be done...maybe later this month I hope...
