I was trying to find information about a Dixie flintlock marked Blount Co and found this pistol with a very similar lock, also marked Blount Co. Since its a William Antis (PA) pistol, I can not figure out why it would have Blount Co on the lock plate. Anyone have an explanation?

Here is a link to the pistol https://www.gregmartinauctions.com/auctions/AuctionLot.aspx?LotID=33493

I am not convinced that the lock is stamped "Blount Co." If you look closely at the stamping, it appears to have some different letters in it. I'd surmise that it might have a different, more eastern name on the lock plate that was hard to read, and they "guessed" that it said Blount Co.  If in fact it is stamped Blount Co., then it raises some questions about the lock.   Shelby Gallien
