Heman Rupp's Mysterious Nose Guy (Kilroy was here)

I'm sure with the bulk of forum participants off to Dixons this weekend the forum needs a little poke to keep us staying home entertained. I will get things started by solving a great mystery involving a rifle that was mis-attributed to Peter Neihart from page 3 of "Kentucky Rifles & Pistols 1750-1850. Said rifle was owned at the time it was photographed for the book by the late Bill Guthman. I found very clear evidence the rifle should be re-attributed to the one and only Herman Rupp! In the very same book on page 6 is a signed rifle by Rupp that shares the tell tale sign of the mysterious big nose guy. Take a look at both rifles' patchboxes. Could Mr. Rupp have been the late 18th century inventor of good ole Kilroy from WWII fame! Or maybe just an early rendition of Clyde Crashcup. What do you all think.

Thanks Tim, pictures are always needed to help spice things up! I can't use the books pics without permission so your rendition shall have to do. After serious thought, I have concluded that the carved and engraved images Rupp made are his own self portrait. Forever etched in time.
