Info on Swiss maker Hoheger in Berneck
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:56:27 PM »
If anyone reading this has access to publications listing European smiths I would like to know about a maker whose signature appears to read "Hoheger" on the barrel of a rifle signed "A Berneck" on the lock.
Google shows Berneck as a small town in NE Switzerland near the German border.

I don't have the book, but a good source for Swiss gunsmiths is Hugo Schneider, Schweizer Waffenschmiede vom 15. bis 20 Jahrhundert printed by Orell Füssli Verlag, Zurich in 1976. The Library of Congress has a copy so you can get through inter-library loan at you local public library.
