Gold barrel bands

I have seen the nice tutorial on the above subject, but need some more information.  If buying gold in wire or sheet from a jewelry supplier, what should I get?  What carat, gauge, etc?

Rog,
the gold should be 22 carat or better.  The gauge depends on how wide you want your bands, or you can inlay two pieces of wire side by side for a wider band.

Practice with copper sheet and wire until you get the hang of it.  Copper works much like gold and mistakes cost less.

i have  done bands in as low as 14.ct
But that was filled  wire .
When you order .order it dead soft
Also don’t forget that  you can wrap smaller wire around itself. Or lay it side by side  to make a wider band  if you can get the  width you need
