Tage Frid on sharpening scrapers

Maybe everyone else has seen this, but it is a little different from other methods I have seen and I thought some of you folks might find it interesting.

I don't let oil get on my wood working bench though.
His burnishing the sides smooths the edge. Filing scrapers can result in the rough edge showing in the wood I assume burnishing the side first helps reduce this(?).
