Michigan Rifles
« on: August 19, 2010, 07:49:09 PM »
(I erred, first put this in the contemporary collecting forum)

Another Michigander & I are finishing up a book on Michigan gunsmiths, more accurately people involved in the firearms trade here. We have well over 700 names.

If anyone has good digital photos & description of a Michigan rifle, rifle/shotgun or pistol they'd like to contribute to this book I'd be thankful to have them, with or without attribution.

I've been working on this since 2000, the other guy since about 1960, give or take. We decided it is about time to cut it off.

Jim Kelly, Rochester, Michigan (settled by the NY guys)

I have photos of a rifle made by W K Strong, Big Rapids, MI. If you can use them, let me know and I'll send them your way.  I also have photos of an Isaac G. Evans plains rifle.  This one was made in Galena, Illinois, but he later worked in Michigan, as I'm sure you know.
