Dixie Gun works carries a variety of sizes of main springs.  Some have a wide bar to file the peg from so you can duplicate your spings mounting peg location.  Pretty affordable too.

Almost forgot - call them and they'll probably want you to send them the spring to match it.  They may have something real close on the shelf.........Lynn

Does Dixie no longer sell the file to fit springs?  Surely cheaper than custom made.

Making a mainspring is worth about as much as a new lock in most cases. I would heat to red, rearch slightly, quench and temper. This will likely solve the problem unless the mainspring is complete junk or has a crack in it or some such.
If the spring seems hard enough you can try polishing it bright, clamping it in a vise at the bend then using a pair of vice grips or hand vise put more arch in the spring and hold it while heating to blue with a propane torch. This will often rearch the spring and make it serviceable again.

Howdy all,
I'd like to thank all of ya for your help since it is my lock being talked about. I found a gunsmith in NH who fixed my old spring, made me an extra one, rehardend the frizzen an tuned the lock for me for $110 w/shipping. He said that the lock looked like a Pedersoli lock that was made for them from a co that is no longer around. By the way the rifle is a Dixie gun works Lancaster rifle, their gunsmith told me they haven't made that rifle in over 20 years. I just wanted to thank you all for trying to help.
