Gentlemen -  Hopefully you have all taken note of the outstanding, iron-mnt'd Longrifle by Randy Sherman which Jan posted on the Contemporary Makers Site just recently.  Yes, it does have a bit of a few different schools and state designs incorporated into it but he has managed to balance all of these features into a truly beautiful rifle.  I Will admit a certain bias since I was the caretaker of the "R. Allen" Georgia rifle and accouterments for 35 years before letting Wayne finally take it home but Randy has taken the basic distinctive design of that patch box and made it even more beautiful - I love the silver star finial.  Congratulations Randy on a job well done.

Arnie,
Thanks for sharing.  That is a beauty of a rifle.

I'll admit that in my younger years I wasn't a fan of Mountain Rifles. This is one I'd be pleased to have on my wall. Nothing "poor" about this "boy." The inletting is fabulous. I, too, like that silver star. I also like that type of set trigger. Just looks cool to me. One element that truly makes me smile is the flash engraved on the lock plate below the pan, aimed right at the trigger finger. :D

I've been converted by some of the work I've seen here and on The Blog. Someday I'll have to won one. Excellent work, young man!

What a great looking rifle!  I like what he's done withe "star" bore design and nosecap.
