Reading Patchbox Release
« on: January 23, 2011, 06:42:58 PM »
I'm building a long gun based on a Reading piece (one of the so called Haga's) but don't know how to do the patch box release. All the patch box releases I've done (which is not many!) have come down from the heel extention. This one releases from the back of the butplate by the patch box. Can anyone illuminate  for me how this type works? Pictures would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Bob,  Go back to page 3 and look at the Figthorn release mechanism thread-----same deal-good photos there.

The four examples of rifles attributed I have seen have had the release in the heel of the butt plate.  So you would not be out of place using what you have done up to now. but for what you are looking for go to  http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=14068.msg132571#msg132571
