Maryland Early Muzzleloader Deer Season
« on: October 21, 2010, 01:39:45 AM »
Starts tomorrow!!!!!  Got the kayak, gear and treestand all loaded in/on the Jeep, heading down to the marshes for sika deer in the morning.  Rifle is ready, clean and sporting a sharp new flint.  Hopefully it will be cool enough to keep the skeeters at bay...

God luck Osprey- our 'skitters' died out with the first frost - that was some time ago.

Daryl,  First frost?  Here in Georgia we are still wearing shorts and t-shirts and swatting gnats.

Hunted opening day without seeing a deer, marshes in the AM for sika and fields at home PM for whitetails.  Much better today, switched it up and stayed home for the morning hunt, saw a doe fawn early and then this 9pt buck at 7:30.  He fed along some young oaks I've planted, then into my clover patch, 55yd shot from the .54 dropped him in the field.  Not the king of the woods in this area, but not one to pass on a three day season!

Now back to sika for the last day and a half...

Congratulations, Osprey, nice looking buck.  I won't get out this year for early season, and maybe not for either later season.  Still recovering from a broken wrist.  I tried to hold a rifle  yesterday, but can't bend my wrist enough to get to the trigger.
Now you go get one of those horned marsh bunnies.

Yeah, BJ,
He'd pretty well be king of the woods most places I've hunted.
