Actually, believe it or not, the front trigger is the set and is pushed with the thumb or the backside of the trigger finger, the rear trigger fires.

There's a longrifle by Buchele pictured in the Contemporary Makers book by Weil with similar triggers.  Really neat gun.

  • You wouldn't have a snack, would you?
The Gunworks has a rifle for sale with a similar trigger & names the maker if I remember correctly.

Is the middle ram rod thimble missing?  For just one thimble the one there seems to be mighty far forward.

Yes, it is nice, but around these parts, a can of worms will sell faster.  The best contemporary makers, by far, are alive and well.  Young, even.  I had a Buchele pistol once that I finally traded to a pauper for a SS helmet; the wealthy all 'dissed it.  Wayne

Just because they can get a book published does not mean you can make a good Kentucky.

Karl,
I have a similar trigger in a Henry Pierce, Lorain County, Oh., target rifle circa 1870-1880.

Some makers in Rowan County NC did their triggers like that.
Buy the new book on North Carolina guns and I'm sure you'll see plenty of examples.

And a number of current target rifles have such triggers.
